Dover Mews · Christ Church, Barbados
Dover Haven is a three-bedroom townhouse in Dover, on the south coast of Barbados — a short walk from Dover Beach, the boardwalk and the restaurants of St Lawrence Gap. Three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a proper kitchen and a study with a door. Room for a family, two couples, or anyone who wants to work somewhere warm for a while.

Two floors, cream walls and pale tile, with three deliberate bursts of colour: the accent wall in the living room, a hand-painted jungle mural climbing the stairs, and bright metal geckos on the patio wall. Bedrooms are upstairs, all queen beds, all with balcony access. The main floor holds the living room, the dining area, a covered patio and the study.
A room with a door, a desk and a good chair — for the morning you need to take a call, or the month you decide to work from here.

A room with a door, a desk and a good chair — for the morning you need to take a call, or the month you decide to work from here. There's a monitor, keyboard and mouse to plug your laptop into, and a single daybed for one: full length at 190 × 71 cm (about 6'3" × 2'4"), a little narrower than a standard single, so it suits a teen or a slim adult. Five burners, a full-size fridge with ice and water, a Vitamix and a Nespresso machine with the pods already in the cupboard. Cook properly, or don't — Oistins is ten minutes away.

Off the living room, shaded through the afternoon, with a table you can eat at properly. The metal geckos are on this wall.

A hand-painted jungle mural runs the height of the stairwell. It was made for this house and it is the loudest thing in it.

The main floor has its own full bathroom, so whoever takes the sofa bed or the study never has to go upstairs in the night.
Sleeps up to 8. Upstairs, three bedrooms each with a queen bed sleep 6. Downstairs, the living room has a queen sofa bed for 2 more. The study has a single daybed for one: full length, a little narrower than a standard single, so it suits a teen or a slim adult.

Four minutes on foot, about 300 m and flat. Soft sand, a lifeguard through the day, and water that stays calm enough for children most of the year. There is a small park behind it with shade if the afternoon gets long. Go early and it is nearly empty.
The boardwalk starts a few minutes east and runs about a mile to Rockley, along the water the whole way. It is flat, it is busy at sunrise with people walking and running, and there are benches and a couple of places to buy a drink. The best walk on this coast.
The strip of restaurants and bars just west of the house — fish, pizza, rum, live music on some nights. It gets loud at the far end after eleven; the house is far enough back that you hear none of it. Book a table on a Saturday.
Ten minutes by car. The fish fry at the market: grilled marlin or flying fish, macaroni pie, plastic chairs, loud music, everyone from the island and everyone visiting. Get there around seven, before the queues, and pay cash.
Massy Supermarket at Sky Mall or the Big B at Worthing are both under ten minutes by car and stock more or less everything. There is also a small shop within walking distance for milk, bread and beer.
Grantley Adams is about twenty minutes away. We can arrange a driver to meet your flight for a fixed fare — tell us the flight number when you book. Taxis at the airport are fixed-rate by zone; agree the price before you set off. Cars can be hired if you want to explore the east coast, but you do not need one to stay here.
